This year’s IFM Annual Conference will be hosted by the Scotland Branch and will be held in the John McIntyre Conference Centre at the University of Edinburgh, which is in the shadow of Arthurs Seat.
The conferences’ central theme is the value of fish, fisheries and the aquatic environment, focussing on theneed to highlight the critical contribution that fish make to the green and blue economy (both locally and nationally) as well as being a crucial component of aquatic biodiversity.
The conference will bring together speakers from across the UK, Ireland and further afield for two days of presentations, posters, and networking opportunities including the Annual Dinner & Awards in the stunning Playfair Library.
This years John Gregory Lecture will be presented by Alison Baker of the Atlantic Salmon Trust.
Alison is a well-known and respected figure in the fisheries management world, having worked for ten years on the conservation of the aquatic environment regionally within the Central Belt of Scotland. Previously she was the Clerk of the Forth District Salmon Fishery Board and Director of the Forth Rivers Trust, developing both organisations to deliver impactful projects and partnerships to enhance the catchment’s rivers and lochs.
Alison has recently taken up the position of Restoration Director with the AST.
