The conference aims to provide a forum for scientists, researchers, regulators, fishery owners, angling clubs/associations and other related groups, to present the latest data and initiatives around the themes of coarse fish and fisheries
The aims of the conference will centre around:
Providing a platform for sharing latest research / management interventions on impacts and pressures to coarse fish and the fisheries they support.
Provide an opportunity for discussion to share learning and identify where understanding and research may be lacking.
Raise awareness of the Environment Agency’s Coarse Fish Strategy(to be launched in 2023).
To hear from key stakeholders who play a role to play in the management and development of coarse fisheries
Provide outputs that will help inform the priorities and actions of the EAs Coarse Fish Strategy, and wider use by the EA, partners and the industry.
The organising committee would welcome submissions under the following subject areas:
Passage and habitat use by coarse fish
Managing fishery performance and angler expectations
Angler engagement
Developing new stillwater and riverine fisheries
Improving fishery resilience
Impacts and pressures on coarse fish including:
Disease
Non-native species
Habitat use and management
Predation
Climate change impacts
All abstracts should include the following information in this order:
Title of the paper,
Authors’ full names with presenter’s name highlighted,
Affiliation and country of origin for each co-author,
Full address of the presenting author,
Email address of the presenting author,
100 – 200 word abstract on the paper’s content,
Preference for an oral (preferred) or poster presentation.
The Steering Group will review all submissions and will aim to ensure a good balance of topics and geographic areas. If requests for oral presentations are oversubscribed a poster presentation may be offered instead.
