Where is the data stored?

Your information is stored electronically on our internal server, Malichimp and the soft copies held on the machines of the IFM staff. The electronic system can only be accessed by those employed by the Institute of Fisheries Management in both a full time and voluntary capacity. As we are an extremely small organisation, this includes only to 2 full time staff and one trusted volunteer working on our database who may access your data for relevant business purposes.

How will your data be used?

What is a Data Controller?

A Data Controller is someone who is responsible for your data and who must make sure that your data is processed according to the law. For example, they are responsible for making sure that the information held about you is accurate and that it is kept secure. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act, I Paul Coulson, Director of Operations , act as the Institute of Fisheries Management Data Protection Officer.

You will also receive an electronic copy of this notification via Mailchimp if you are on our database.

Please reply to either notification by email to or by post consenting to us recording personal information about you as per the points above.

We will construe a lack of response as acceptance, on the basis you are already on the system and we would like you to continue to be so.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask but otherwise we look forward to your accepting reply.
