With Gareth Davies of the Environment Agency

Invasive species pose constant and increasing problems, but effective management must take into account the risks they pose. We are delighted to welcome Gareth Davies to critically discuss key factors like invasiveness, life history traits, interactions with native biota and likely responses to management actions, using the highly invasive topmouth gudgeon, Pseudorasbora parva, as a model species. He will outline studies of such factors in invaded waters and mesocosms and how information gained can inform piscicide-eradication programmes and population control approaches using biomanipulation and biocontrol at local and national scales.
