We appreciate that given the current situation with the coronavirus people have a bit of extra time on their hands, especially as angling and general time outdoors is restricted.

To try and alleviate some of the boredom, and to keep people engaged in fish and fisheries, we have now made certain units from our distance learning courses available for people to take as standalone units. The units available are

  • Water Quality
  • Freshwater Biology
  • Angling and Recreation
  • Fisheries Law
  • Fish Culture and Husbandry

You can find an overview of the unit content here

Each unit comes with a handbook and supporting materials which will be sent to you electronically so that you can download it onto whichever device works best for you.

The course is set at level 3 which is the same as A levels

The units will also be assessed by open book exam on Saturday 6th June (other dates will be made available if needed). The exams are taken at home so there is no need to attend any venues to pass the course. All successful candidates will be issued with a Certificate of Achievement.

There is no need to take the assessments if you don’t want to.

Each unit passed can be used as credits towards the full Certificate Course should you want to take your learning further. A discount on the full course will also be offered to anyone who has taken one or more units . Full details on the course can be found here or email certificate@ifm.org.uk with any questions.

This a great opportunity to keep the brain ticking over whilst sampling some of what our courses have to offer. We have a dedicated course manager so you have a direct point of contact for any questions.

The cost for each unit is £70 and you can take as many as you wish.

Please just put a 1 in each unit you would like to take. The total is shown at the bottom
