At least 603 barriers were removed in 2025, reconnecting >3740 km of rivers & boosting water security, biodiversity & climate resilience! 

Key statistics:

*New record set for 5th consecutive year.

*New record is 11% higher than last year’s record 

*Sweden topped the list followed by Finland and Spain

*Iceland & North Macedonia officially removed their first barriers
