The IFM have joined with the Scottish Fishery Co-ordination Centre (SFCC) to host a one day workshop on the practice of smolt monitoring.
The day will be a mixture of theory sessions, Q&A and field trips to visit a smolt trap currently been run by the Tweed Foundation. Delegates will get hands on experience of processing any smolts caught. There will be a range of case studies from both Scotland and England covered throughout the day.
Objectives:
1. To outline current theory and best practice in salmonid smolt trapping
2. To outline research design and recording protocols
3. To observe and undertake training in current best practice field techniques
