Call for Abstracts now open for Fish Passage Conference 2027

The Call for Abstracts for the Fish Passage Conference 2027 is now open. Researchers, practitioners and other experts from around the world will come together in the Netherlands from 7 to 11 June 2027 to focus on fish migration and aquatic connectivity. Abstracts can be submitted until 31 October 2026.

Share your knowledge and experience 

Contributions are welcome on a range of topics: from the restoration of migratory fish populations, fish behaviour, monitoring and fish passage solutions to barrier removal, new technologies and the impacts of climate change. Transitional and estuarine connectivity, international policy and cooperation, and the social aspects of fish migration and ecological restoration are also part of the programme.

A special edition in the Netherlands 

In 2027, the Fish Passage Conference returns to Europe for the first time since 2015. The conference will take place in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. 

The Fish Passage Conference 2027 will coincide with the opening of the Fish Migration River in the Afsluitdijk. This unique project aims to restore the connection between the Wadden Sea and Lake IJsselmeer for migratory fish and will have a special place in the programme. During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to visit the project area and experience it first-hand. 

Submit your abstract 

Does your research fit the conference themes, or do you have a practical case, a project or an innovative solution you would like to share?
